Writing Old Egyptian (Hieroglyphs)

1. to download and install a font supporting hieroglyphs characters, such as
   • "GlyphBasic" fonts, at http://www.yare.org/egypt/glyphbasic%20fonts.htm
     (you need to install the four fonts GlyphBasic1, GlyphBasic2, GlyphBasic3 e GlyphBasic4).

2. to install a program to easily type the characters, such as
   • the program "Keyboard", downloadable from this site at http://www.webalice.it/sandro.carnevali/tastiera/keyboard.htm

In the pictures down here you see the program "Keyboard", with the keyboard "Egyptian Hieroglyphs (Font GlyphBasic - Hint = Gardiner Code)" selected in the menu "Egyptian Hieroglyphs".
You get a keyboard showing in several pages all the characters you can type using the mouse clicking in the different keys. The text may be saved as a rtf file, readable in Word or many programs more, or simply copied and pasted.

If you stop the mouse over a key, you can see the GARDINER code.

Non fully compatible keys: Light blue keys may not be directly inserted by mouse: if you stop the mouse over it, you see the Gardiner code and the code to type to insert the character (ALT + numeric keypad code).
